Teerthanker Mahaveer University owes its origin to Teerthanker Mahaveer Institute of Management and Technology (TMIMT), which forayed into professional education in the year 2001 by offering courses such as BBA, BCA, MCA, MBA, B. Ed, M. Ed and B. Sc. (Home Science). The sponsoring body of the TMIMT i.e. the Teerthanker Mahaveer Institute of Management and Technology Society finally established an independent degree granting institution in the year 2008 known as Teerthanker Mahaveer University- a Jain minority university with a mandate to create and disseminate knowledge in areas of higher education. Teaching besides meeting the program specific requirements is inter-disciplinary in approach, which in addition to class room teaching through lectures, side talks, discussions, assignments and comprehension tests, entails numerous site visits and on the spot studies. Students are encouraged to make their own observation of facts to analyze and evaluate themselves so that they may learn to reckon the relevance and application of investigative studies to the performance requirement of creative course work in different disciplines.
