ADMISSION NOTICE (Updated)
Applications have been invited [Employment News (16–22 April 2011) and NIH Website (http://www.nih.nic.in) ] from Indian citizens for Admission for 5½ yrs. Degree course (BHMS) in Homoeopathy (including one year Compulsory Rotatory Internship) at the National Institute of Homoeopathy, Kolkata, affiliated to The West Bengal University of Health Sciences, for the academic year 2011-2012. (Form can be downloaded from Institute website).

ELIGIBILITY:
Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary (10+2) or its equivalent examination with five subjects including Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English and obtained 50% marks in aggregate (45% marks for the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe) are eligible to apply. Candidates should attain 17 years of age by 31st December, 2011. For the candidates who have appeared for Higher Secondary (10+2), candidature will be taken into consideration provided that the result of that examination is published before the admission and they have secured the required percentage of marks which has to be substantiated by production of documentary proof. Blind (including colour blind), deaf and /or dumb candidates are not eligible to apply for the course.

SELECTION:
Total number of seats: 93 (Ninety three).
Admission through All India Entrance Examination will be held for seats other than those that were specified in the notice published in the Employment News (16-22 April 2011). Reservation including to those belonging to Orthopedically Challenged (OC)/OBC category will be made as per extant reservation instructions. The candidates who are desirous of availing such reservation facilities under OBC quota are required to enclose attested copy of their OBC certificate issued by appropriate authority along with a declaration that she/he does not belong to creamy layer of the society (for the format see the Institute website).

The All-India Admission Test will be of three hours duration. The pattern of questions will be of Multiple Choice 200 Questions- Physics (60 questions), Chemistry (60 questions), Biology (60 questions) and General Knowledge (20 questions). There will be negative marking for wrong answers.

Filled in application (in candidate’s own handwriting) is to be sent along with Bank Draft for Rs. 500/- (Rupees Five hundred only) in favour of Director, National Institute of Homoeopathy payable at Kolkata (IPO/Cheque/Cash/Money order will not be accepted). No Bank draft is required in case of SC/ST candidates but a copy of caste certificate attested by a Gazetted Officer should accompany the application. Candidates need not send the photocopies of testimonials with application (except attested copy of caste certificate in case of SC/ST candidates claiming exemption from paying application fee) and OBC/Orthopaedically Handicapped claiming for reservation in admission, but the original certificate must be submitted for verification if provisionally selected.

6. Date of Third Counselling (and of Admission), if needed – 22nd & 23rd August, 2011

Result of the qualified candidates will be communicated by post and the merit list will also be available in the NIH website: http://www.nih.nic.in

The All India Admission Test will be held at seven Centers: Kolkata , New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram and Bhopal. Candidate should therefore give their choice of centre in the application. In case the number of candidates who have opted for a particular centre are less, then the centers at Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram and Bhopal will be cancelled and the candidates will be allotted the nearest centre. Accordingly candidate who opts for Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram and Bhopal has to mention his/her second choice of centre of examination from amongst Kolkata, New Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai. Candidates must note that centre of examination once allotted to them shall not be changed and any request for such changes will not be entertained at any stage.

About National Institute of Homoeopathy NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF HOMOEOPATHY was established on 10th December 1975 in Kolkata as an Autonomous Organisation under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India. 

The Institute , affiliated to the West Bengal University of Health Sciences, presently conducts the degree course in Homoeopathy viz Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery [B.H.M.S.] since 1987 and Post - Graduate course i.e. Doctor of Medicine in Homoeopathy [M.D.(Hom.)] in three subjects viz Organon of Medicine, Repertory and Materia Medica since 1998-99. 

Today it consists of an Undergraduate and Postgraduate sections with an auditorium of 800 seating capacity, a hospital having an outpatient dept. and a 60 bedded inpatients dept. along with investigative facilities.
